Many species of fish such as walleye, crappie, bass and catfish are aggressive feeders at night. In order to have a very successful night fishing trip you need to be able to know where to locate good twilight feeding areas. There is one common factor that crosses between specie to specie that makes it easy to catch different types of fish at the same night fishing location. Walleye, crappie, bass and catfish all feed in the shallows at night and if you can find a good feeding area you can go home with a basket full of fish. The trick is to be able to pick an area that you can easily set up your night fishing equipment. What I would like to give you in my article today is some simple night fishing tips that I use to select a good night fishing location.

1.0 How to locate good night spots for walleye, catfish, crappie and bass off of rocky points.

For example my favorite type of location to fish at night for catfish and walleye is a in and behind a rocky point on the side opposite that the wind is coming from in a bay or cove, that is adjacent to a sandy beach. I have always had good luck in these night fishing locations for walleyes and catfish. And many times other fish species too. I will normally back my pontoon boat in and behind the rocks so I am in easy casting distance to the break of the break between sand rock and hard pan.

2.0 How to locate good night spots for walleye, catfish, crappie and bass adjacent to main waterways.

Another great night fishing location that I have good luck at is in secluded back water areas that have good access to the main waterway. Look for stumps or submerged structure that are on the edge of the backwater close to the access point to the main body of water. These are the locations you will set up for at night. I drop two submerged light sources that are near the submerged structure or stumps but night right on top of them. The submerged lighting will attract plankton and then bait fish in a short period of time. I fish with bobbers and live bait just outside the edge of the underwater fishing lights light beam. Set you’re the depth close to the bottom. You may have to adjust your depth a bit until you start catching fish. I have caught a variety of night feeders using this method that include walleye, crappie, bass and catfish. These spots are perfect if you go night fishing and it is a very windy night.

Well folks that concludes my article on submerged fishing lights and locations stay tuned for more articles on the subject of night fishing. May your next fishing trip be a success!
